Vini's worldIt's all about me! 5月17日 We hit year IIWhy do first anniversaries have so much importance? The second anniversary is as special as the first one. After all each anniversary can be celebrated just once! This year it was Nishant's turn to plan the event. I know he had been planning since a long time. He just would not tell me what! We took off on the morning of May 5th...the big day...It was only when we were about to board a ferry that I was told that we were going to Orcas islands. That was perfect day. Lots of sunshine and clear skies...rare sight in a place like Washington! The ride from Anacortes to Orcas is a very pleasant one. In about an hour we reached our destination. The Ferry was packed and we were fortunate to board it...just 5 minutes before departure.
From the beach in front of our studio, we could see both the Canadian as well as American islands! Also, there was an island with a light house which submerged under water during high tide and came back up in low tide during the day! What a miracle! Being a private beach, this one was clean and uninhabited!...oh what a relief to be away from sun bathers!
After spending a lazy afternoon indoors we decided to hit the little downtown! We had great food at a friendly pizza place. We brought home more left overs than we ate. The portions were indeed generous! What's a good dinner without a great dessert? We found this European bakery which sold amazing chocolate raspberry cakes. The dessert I must say was delicious! After getting back to the Beach House...we had a movie night...and watch 2 movies one after the other! I certainly enjoyed the quite and do-things-at your-own -pace routine!
6th was comparatively more active...we drove around the town and hiked a little bit on Mt Constitution. The day was cold and foggy. We could not see more than 5 feet ahead of us! Back to the Beach House in the evening...we had a game night..played few games and solved puzzles...and that was the end of another relaxed gorgeous day!
7th was day 3. The weather was at it's best this day! We had coffee and breakfast on the front porch, strolled on the beach and packed to get back to Redmond. Like I mentioned, all anniversaries are special as they can be celebrated only once. This one indeed will be hard to beat...Thanks Honey for the wonderful getaway...I'm going to have to try really hard to beat this one...as it's gonna be my turn next year!

Yeah! can't believe it..I feel so young...All right all right...I am not 101 years old today...instead, I completed my 101 miles beginning 01/01/2007. That's about 162 Kms :-). Beginning of this year, I decided to document my life better. One of the things I decided to keep score of was the number of miles I run. Also in my list of things to document are memories. What better way than picures?...Nishant and I have been taking several pictures this year. I'm sure these will prove very precious after few years!
Now thats what I call service!Amongst the zillion things I ate during my recent trip to India...one of the highlights was the pakoras in Calcutta...or...Kolkatta...Check out the photos.... We often talk and hear about brilliant customer service...this one seems to be unmatched...there was this little boy who sat next to the pakora "Thela" ( small shop) who poured water for customers to wash hands...I found this quite amusing. This gives us an insight into the abundance of labor in India and the use that it is out to...:-) 12月28日 New Year's ResolutionYet another year goes by….it’s almost 2007! Can’t believe time flew so fast. It’ll be 2008 before you blink your eyes!...and then 2009, then 2010, 2011..err STOP slow down just a bit It’s that time of the year, when you make resolutions. You make ‘em and then break ‘em. But there are some that are made to be kept….I cant think of any resolution that I’ve ever kept through the end of the year… but this year is gonna be different. I’m gonna make it work..yes by all means (yeah yeah…whatever! ;-) To think of it…it’s not my fault that I don’t keep my resolutions…I’m just too harsh on myself when I make ‘em. Like go to the gym 7 days a week, stop eating junk food, learn a new language, be nice to everyone…come on that’s not gonna work!!! This year I have resolved to resolve wisely. They say the best way to accomplish what you’ve resolved is to make it public. Well what better way than to blog it J. So I won’t disclose much…but yes I have resolved to resolve wisely for sure! 11月15日 Hmm SeattleFall is upon us…finally…and Seattle has been surprisingly pleasant till the end of October. I was expecting October to be a wash out and was delighted by it's weather everyday. Of course, I took everyday as a bonus, anticipating the agony that would fall upon us in Fall. November so far has been RAINY or rather CLOUDY. It rains almost everyday and we’ve had record levels of rainfall so far. The only good part I can think about fall and winter is the COFFEE…Its soooo good…a steaming cuppa does wonders. Unfortunately free cup of coffee does not qualify…so the office coffee is not what I like….I mean more like the Starnucks/Seattle’s Best/Tully’s, in that order. Here’s what I read about Seattle in a popular Seattle visit info website: WINTER Seattle typically has fewer than three days of snow. And while many people associate Seattle with rain, it's really cloud cover without rain that prompts many visitors and locals to drink high quantities of caffeinated drinks. P.S: I just realized this blog entry is so randomn....whatever...guess I just blogged what was in my head :-) 10月11日 Psycho!I guess I’ve been watching too much TV these days! I figured all those troubled people on TV have a past that causes them to behave the way they behave. So usually this guy on TV is paranoid as a young man because he’s had a troubled childhood-parents divorced , abusive dad and so on. Hold on…this has nothing to do with me or my paranoia J So I am in a phase (a passing one I hope) where I observe people and relate their actions to the kind of people they are…most of the times I’m wrong but sometimes I’m pretty darn right! Yaaha…did’nt I study probabilities in school? Okay so here’s an interesting observation I made. I swear I haven’t picked it up from some place….if such a thing exists it’s a co-incidence. The restroom a person enters reflects his/her personality. Sounds pretty stupid isn’t it? Well here’s some more… My office has 6 restrooms in a row. I’ve observed that the person who gets into the first restroom when she enters the door is an outgoing confident person. In a scenario where all/most restrooms are empty, when a person chooses the nearest restroom to the door he/she is an extrovert. When a person walks all the way to the end in spite of the closer ones being unoccupied, is more of the quite types-maybe even a recluse. I am still researching on people who choose the restrooms in between..are they the balanced types? I found the most out going and extrovert people in my office choose the closest restrooms and vice versa! My husband says that I am an Analyst by profession and psycho by nature…that makes me a psycho-analyst..aaha..I could choose an alternative profession if I want! Okay so if by any hint of imagination you were thinking I'm serious...shut up! I had to use the spell check to write pycho correctly! But hey doesnt this make you think that I could be right? Now dont force yourself next time to go to the nearest restroom..just to prove you are confident and ougoing..that aint gonna work :-)
